The Desjardins uOttawa female athlete of the week is Tatiana Hanlan of the women's basketball team. Hanlan led the Gee-Gees in scoring in the team's 66-43 win over Queen's on Friday night. The third year forward's 29 points was a career high, and she also recorded a career high in rebounds with six. Hanlan, who studies International Business, sank seven three point baskets and shot 10-20 from the floor overall. The seven long range buckets was the most scored by a Gee-Gee in a single game since Emilie Morasse had seven against Western in 2009. Hanlan's performance helped Ottawa earn their ninth straight win, maintaining their place atop the OUA East standings. The Gee-Gees are tied for first with the Carleton Ravens, whom they will face on Wednesday night at the 6th edition of the women's Capital Hoops Classic at Scotiabank Place.
The Desjardins uOttawa male athlete of the week is Alexandre Touchette of the men's hockey team. Touchette, who played four seasons with the Gatineau Olympiques, scored a hat trick in the Gee-Gees' 8-3 win at Ryerson. The second-year forward scored the game-winning goal and added two assists for a five point day. Touchette's hat trick was the second of his CIS career and the first of the season for the Gee-Gees, who are heading into the final home stretch of the regular season. With six games left the team is in fifth place and will host Concordia this upcoming Sunday to battle for playoff positioning.
