The Desjardins Male Athlete of the Week is Matthieu Methot of the men's hockey team. With the Gee-Gees' playoff hopes on the line, the fifth year captain scored two goals including the game winner in Saturday's tilt with Concordia. He also added an assist and played on the effective penalty killing unit, playing a key role in the team capturing a 5-3 victory. Methot (Ottawa, Ont.) is on a four-game point streak and now has a team-leading 13 goals on the season.
The Desjardins Female Athlete of the Week is Bess Lennox of the women's basketball team. Lennox (Ottawa, Ont.) broke the OUA record for career rebounds in a big way on Saturday night; she fought to reign in 15 rebounds in the closely contested, physical battle with the Carleton Ravens. That performance lifted the fifth year forward back into top spot in the OUA for rebounds per game this season with an average of 10.5, which places her second in the CIS in that category. Lennox also scored 11 points in the game and now has 997 career rebounds.
