The uOttawa Athletes of the Week for October 11 are fifth-year quarterback Derek Wendel and third-year women’s basketball player Jennifer Crowe.
Wendel passed for 514 yards in Ottawa’s 54-20 win over York on Firday night, an impressive total which was achieved via 31 completions on 42 attempts and included three touchdown passes. It marks the third time in Wendel’s career that he has passed for over 500 yards in a game. The Belleville product leads the country in touchdown passes with 18 on the year and ranks first in the OUA in both yards per game [395.2] and completion percentage [69.3].
Crowe was named to the all-star team at the Concordia Classic exhibition tournament, where Ottawa scored a pair of victories and one loss. Crowe, an electrical engineering student from St-Bruno, Que., had a solid all-around performance in rebounding, steals, and getting to the free throw line. She knocked down 12 points against Guelph and 11 points against UPEI, both wins for Ottawa.
