GAME STORY:

The Gee-Gees recorded their first win of the season Saturday evening after defeating the Guelph Gryphons 54-36. The win was truly a team effort, with every player playing double digit minutes and contributing at least one point to the team’s final score.

Third-year centre Hannah Sunley-Paisley (Toronto, Ont.) led both teams in scoring, banking 18 points and seven rebounds for the Gee-Gees. Fourth-year guard Kelly Weir (Ottawa, Ont.) and first-year Kizzy Clarke(Montreal, Qué.) were both 100% at the line, making each of their two free throws.

The Gee-Gees lost to the Gryphons 53-62 at home last season.

“We played much better,” said head coach Andy Sparks. “Giving up 36 points to Guelph was a big step for us, after giving up 93 [points] to Brock yesterday.”

The Gee-Gees will be at home next weekend for the first time this season, hosting Western Friday, November 13, 6:00 p.m. in their home-opener game and Windsor Saturday, November 14, 5:45 p.m.
