The uOttawa Gee-Gees travelled to the northwest corner of Ontario to visit the Lakehead Thunder Wolves on Friday night in Thunder Bay, Ont. The Gee-Gees showed little sign of road fatigue as they battled hard for a 63-52 victory over the Thunder Wolves at home.
The Gee-Gees led for most of the game until Lakehead came alive in the fourth and tested for the lead. Fortunately the Gee-Gees were able to retain their composure and finish the game with an 11-point advantage.
This marks the Gee-Gees third straight win, and first win on the road, after dropping their first two.
Head coach Andy Sparks was pleased to walk away with the win but admitted that he did not get the ideal performance from his players. The Gee-Gees did finish with 27 turnovers. Nevertheless he also acknowledged that same day travel was not ideal in preparing for the game.
“And we’re not out of the woods just yet. We have another long day of travel ahead of us tomorrow,” added Sparks as the Gee-Gees travel to Guelph tomorrow morning.
