Women’s Basketball (12-6 OUA)
At York University (5-13 OUA) Friday, February 4, 2011 at 6 p.m. in Toronto, Ont.
The uOttawa Gee-Gees women basketball team battled a much-improved York team, but got away with this one by a final score of 70-63. With the win the Gee-Gees improve to 8-2 since the Christmas break, and currently sit third place in the OUA East Division; only four points behind Toronto for second.
“We got a little bit of sickness going on right now within the team so the energy level wasn’t quite where it needed to be but we got through it. We got a big road trip obviously coming up tonight to Sudbury for tomorrow night’s game, and they had a three point game with Carleton tonight so we’re going to be in a good test again tomorrow night,” said head coach Andy Sparks.
“We’re twelve and six now; certainly since we were four and four we’ve had a decent stretch now, but we got to continue working to improve” added Sparks.
Due to a technical error with the statistical equipment, and so player statistics were not available following the game.
The Gee-Gees will continue their two game road trip this weekend as they travel to Sudbury overnight to take on the Laurentian Voyageurs tomorrow night at 6 p.m.
