The Gee-Gees women’s basketball team will head to Costa Rica at the beginning of August for a series of exhibition games against NCAA competition. The Gee-Gees plan to meet Mississippi State and Arizona State with the possibility of more teams to be added over the course of the ten-day trip which should involve four games total.
Ottawa will fly to San Jose, Costa Rica on August 1, returning August 11. The team will have the opportunity to take in the sights of San Jose as well as enjoy rainforest tours in the beautiful surrounding area.
“We were invited because of the strong results we had last year, and I know the players are looking forward to it,” said Gee-Gees head coach Andy Sparks.
Ottawa has travelled to the United States for competition recently, including wins over nearby Iona College and Monroe College in New York, and a victory over Rollins College on a trip to Florida during the December exam break of 2013.
