With the support of our alumni, Gee-Gees look to dominate Giving Tuesday Once Again
Once again this year, the University of Ottawa will be participating in Giving Tuesday, a national program to encourage philanthropy.
In order to encourage and support this initiative, beginning on Tuesday, November 28th at 8am, uOttawa and Sports Services will match every donation, up to a maximum match of $1,000 per donor (individual or organization)*.
The first $100,000 received on that day for initiatives across the university will be eligible for the matching funding. Last year, the competitive nature of Gee-Gees donors shone through scooping up 62% of all matching funds allocated for the University.
Funds raised from the 2016 Giving Tuesday initiative were directed towards enhancing the competitive experience for our student athletes. Projects supported included:
- Technology upgrades for the swim team
- Locker room enhancements for football
- Exhibition and tournament travel for basketball, volleyball and rugby
- Additional on and off-ice equipment for athletes on our hockey teams
- Competitive opportunities for our track and cross country athletes
- Enriched mentoring and tutoring support for all student athletes.
Giving Tuesday is an ideal time to make a charitable contribution and maximize the impact of your donation. One hundred percent of your gift will be allocated directly towards the Gee-Gees program of your choice and contributions of all sizes will have an impact
Please join with the numerous alumni, family members and friends of our programs who have already pledged their support for our student athletes.
