Equestrian team.

As the first Canadian intercollegiate equestrian team in recent history, the Gee Gees are entering into their fourteenth season of competition in both the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association and the Ontario University Equestrian Association. The team provides competitive opportunities for hunt seat equitation at all levels: beginner walk-trot through to advanced hunter divisions. The uOttawa Equestrian Team provides students with an opportunity to ride without the commitment of owning or leasing a horse. The host universities provide horses, which gives teams a unique opportunity to hone their skills in a wide variety of situations. Competition plays a role but the students' enthusiasm and team spirit are the major factors to the success of the team.

Since September 2016, the uOttawa Equestrian Team has operated out of the renowned Wesley Clover Parks in Ottawa, ON. Wesley Clover Parks offers thoughtful and technical training through the team’s head coach Mark Struthers; whose experience in hunters and jumpers in both the United States and Canada provides the team with a competitive edge. We are fortunate to have a wide selection of horses to lesson on and learn from.

Students pay for a team membership, lessons, and shows separately. Full-time and part-time undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to compete with our team. Tryouts are held at the beginning of each semester. Riders must sign up in advance. For more information with regard to tryouts, feel free to contact the team secretary.
