GAMESTORY:
The Gee-Gees travelled to Trois-Rivières, Québec, Friday evening to face the No. 1 OUA East UQTR Patriotes. They proved they deserve to be one of the top teams in the league, blowing past the Gee-Gees 8-2.
The Gee-Gees kept the Patriotes to two goals in the first period and capitalized on a power play to score one of their own before the end of the period. However, the Patriotes continued to challenge the Gee-Gees and would score three more goals in each the second and third period.
UQTR outshot the Gee-Gees 41-28 and scored three power play goals.
“We gave up five consecutive goals in the second and third periods,” explained head coach Dave Leger. “We have to be patient and wait for the right opportunities to score.”
Leger explains that the team must now concern themselves about the upcoming games, and not dwell on tonight’s game: “This game is over now, so we now have to focus on tomorrow’s game. It’s a reset.”
The Gee-Gees return home tomorrow evening to host McGill (19-5) at the uOttawa Sportscomplex. This game will also be the last of the alumni game series and it will be honouring alumni from the 1990’s and 2000’s.
